Amman – Tuesday 18/6/2013

In compliance with its mission, Jordan Red Crescent tries to comfort the Syrian refugees and alleviate their suffering. The commencement of a campaign to circumcise 600 Syrian infants within the confines of Al Za’atri camp got on its way today. A specialized clinic was designated within the Jordanian Italian Field Hospital with the support of the Kuwaiti Red Crescent and the Royal Medical Services.

Abdullah a 6 month old child was the first infant to undergo the surgical operation (circumcision). The look of hope and optimism in Abdullah’s mother’s eyes was worth a thousand words for her Za’atri camp born child. She was fully aware and greatly appreciative of the JRC and the KRC joint efforts.

Delegates from the Kuwaiti Red Crescent were present as part of their visit to the camp to monitor other humanitarian activities carried out by JRC volunteers mainly a program on Restoring Family Link in cooperation with the ICRC.
