This programme was initiated by the Jordanian Red Crescent to establish a training centre for first aid and prevention of risks. It has conducted training sessions in a number of colleges, companies, hotels and public institutions, as well as training volunteers from the Jordanian Red Crescent in all governorates of Jordan.
The training covers dealing with injuries and emergencies, as well as giving out other life-saving information.
The volunteers were especially targeted in order to educate and encourage their community to actively participate in first aid delivery. Important components of the first aid training ranged from CPR and how to deal with bleeding, fractures, poisoning, burns, nerve shock, loss of consciousness, coma, suffocation, drowning, heat stroke and animal bites, through to what to do in cases of mass casualties, and also traffic accidents.
The first aid training and risk prevention centres that are affiliated with the National Society also conduct specialised first aid courses, which include courses aimed at women householders, firefighters and lifeguards.
