The Ninth Conference of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies of the Middle East and North Africa Opens Tomorrow

The Ninth Conference of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) will commence Tuesday in Amman under the patronage of HE Faisal Akef Al Fayez, President of the Senate. The Jordan Red Crescent is hosting the conference from 24 to 26 of this month, in cooperation with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. The conference, which adopted the theme "Together for Humanity", will address several issues, notably the response to the challenges of the Middle East and North Africa, the importance of promoting a culture of peace, the dissemination of tolerance and non-violence, and displacement and migration. The conference will also address the reduction of urban risks, the strengthening of humanitarian response in cities, and the importance of protection and safety of volunteers.The conference will be attended by 177 national associations representing the countries of the Middle East and North Africa (Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Tunisia, UAE) In addition, it will include a number of observers representing regional and international humanitarian institutions, including the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the Arab Red Cross and Red Crescent Organization.
