Every year, thousands of family members are separated by conflicts, disasters or migration. People suffer terribly when they lose contact with their loved ones and don't know where they are or whether they are safe.
In line with the Restoring Family Links Strategy – 2008 – 2018, the ICRC and National Societies work together to locate people and put them back into contact with their relatives.
Depending on the situation and contact, Restoring Family Links services may include:
- Organizing the exchange of family news.
- Tracing individuals.
- Reuniting families and repatriation.
- Collecting, managing and forwarding information on the deceased.
All the services provided by the Restoring Family Links network can be accessed on the ICRC website.
